Steve Brenin Jr An instant buy it now for me after listening to the title track. These 10 songs are really versatile and I think really exude atmosphere and take you back in time. Milly's voice is great and I really like the way she it works with the old time country/gypsy jazz/folk/cajun not to mention the lyrics and song writing. Is there anything she can't do? The only question for me is why more people haven't bought it.... Favorite track: Hey There Little Mail Lady.

It's a long, hard road to the glory land, I'm starting my good work now Spirit's gonna take me by the hand, if I start my praying now The earth's in trouble, the people too; I'm looking for a sign Gonna leave my wanton, worried ways and troubled past behind The demons are hot on my trail tonight But my spirit's strong and my eyes are bright (But my mind is calm and my heart is light) Twelve burning moons, it's been a long year But I won't disappear, no I won't disappear, no I won't disappear My good ghosts will speak to me in dreams and the eyes of creatures I'll sing the songs that come along from strange, enchanting teachers I never knew what a prayer could do until they started coming true Music is the medicine where fear and greed once grew

Hot Potato 02:59
You must have thought you were a hot potato The way you threw yourself around Always flirtin and tryin those nightshade eyes On every pretty mama that you found I always knew you'd never be true, tried to love you as you are But child, you've taken your cheating one lust affair too far Come see what you'll be missing one more time Before you throw yourself a little further on down the line You're too hot to hold and I'm the fool for thinking you were mine If those pans are hot, then why the hell not throw them taters in to fry? I must have thought I was a lucky gambler, always blowing on your dice Goin and showin you my hand Guess I should've thought about it twice Never rolled those double sevens, never got a royal flush I guess I'd better find something steady 'cause it looks like I'm out of luck I'm foldin and I'm boltin out that door Before I ask the dealer to put me back in for more You bent the rules and I ain't sold on feeling what I feel So let me out cause there's no doubt I got the short end of this deal
3.
Those sunny, sunny days and moony, moony nights Will carry you away into forbidden arms Those southern nights so warm will find you wondering what's to come It's got you smiling when you're trying to sing your sad songs That humid air's allure will leave you wanting more As you gaze into the eyes of your enchanted one You won't know what to do but leave the life you thought you knew But then the sun arises and you're all alone The spooky willows weep along the moonlit streets Pedaling through reveries of Erzulie The madness of the night will make it all seem right As if your fates collided in the mystery You know it will be hard but reality is far When you are floating through the stars on those southern nights
4.
A diamond has been hiding, buried in the earth And under constant pressure since the moment of her birth Miners try to find her to behold her precious gleam But darkness overtakes them and she was but just a dream Time is passing like a freight train through some lonely country town We can watch from behind our windows, wondering where it might be bound Or you could lie beside me, darling, in the candle's dancing glow Where the secret's just a gentle touch and the fine art of takin it slow We all keep our list of reasons to extinguish a burning love Fire's wild and needs constant tending; nothing ever is enough And we cannot know the future until the moment's past Take me back to the night I met you, before the spell was cast
5.
Chasing your shadows in your field of dreams You say that you love me, back what can you mean? I'm not a shadow, I'm real human being Am I your star player or just part of a team? I'm your third base lover, you won't take me home You run me around and leave me alone Then out of left field, I'm just a lawn gnome The bases are loaded but you won't take me home The signals that your catcher makes Don't match the path your pitches take And I don't want to sit and wait For you to bring me up to the plate I've got the pinch hitter blues from helping you score When it never ends up as anything more Than anything I've ever gotten before Now our little game has turned into a war
6.
I'm not in the headspace for a love affair You can hold me, but don't touch me there I'd run my fingers through your hair But I'm leaving tomorrow My aorta's getting overstretched I leave my heart and pack up all the rest This gaping hole up in my chest Just might close up forever What can I even offer you but astral projection and a letter or two? I almost start to feel like I'm a deadbeat dad To the children that we never had Like I'm always doing something bad If I don't stay here and love you If I could I'd pack your town upon my back I wouldn't have to keep on holding back Keep your calculated plans intact You're too heavy to carry If I'd never left and if she hadn't stayed They might have never made those plans they laid Been dealt the hand that leaves one card unplayed And they're living together You could blame it on my gypsy blood But that's a little bit too Hollywood I swear I'd settle if I could But I don't know where my home is The roamers want to settle down, the settled want to roam around. In your eyes I see a soul I want to touch And my dreams about you make me blush Every contact gives me such a rush Does that mean I'm perverted? Maybe if I try I can grow out of sex Let love and loneliness lay down to rest As it stands my chances aren't the best To stay Happy Forever

Hey there little mail lady, you're so cute With your little mail pouch and your little mail suit I wish I was that letter stuffed up in your sack I'd say "return to sender" so you'd have to take me back Marijuana in the morning, wake and bake the day Acid in the afternoon keeps the doctor away Cocaine til the crack of dawn, all my chores are done Start the whole thing over, a new day has begun 'Scuse me Miss Barista, I need a pick-me-up And you could use a mister busing those c-cups I see your empty tip jar, I'll just insert my tip Foam up my cappuccino, and filter out my drip Hello Miss bank teller, tell it to me true If I give you my money, can I count on you? I got a lot of singles, you're gonna have to count Leaning over baby, don't stop on my account

Life Sharks 04:24
Addicted to this sadness, I feed it til it grows Larger than my destiny, a fork in every road I'm a slave to my freedom, can't ever be tied down I run around in circles away from where I'm bound My mother and my sisters about to die of thirst To be a better human or try to save the earth I'm a wolf in sheep's clothing everywhere I go They'd put me in the madhouse if they knew what I know Got all these super powers, only my self to save I rescue all the villains to prove that I am brave I choose the meanest teachers, the fastest way to learn The body of a maiden, the wisdom of a crone They pretend they don't know better, like they don't know the rules I'm building a secret lair deep below their souls I'm waiting in the darkness, praying the sun won't rise One day I'll rise up singing, I'm taking root to fly
10.
I dreamt that I was normal, they looked me in the eye They just walked past and never asked a million reasons why I awoke and was this spectacle who should have stayed in bed Or went to town in a burlap gown and a bag upon my head Got that same old pit in my stomach from reaching beyond the sky Our wisdom leads us far for love with a sadness in our eye I found another animal from the sea-bound coast He goes wherever the wild wind blows, he's the love I love the most In dreams we walk together, heal each other's scars Grandmother's voice will aid my choice as I follow my guiding stars

about

Milly Raccoon Nashville, Tennessee

Trained by campfires and tavern jams all over the world, Milly Raccoon’s eccentric and poignant lyrics mix with musical stylings that seem to have travelled out of the past, emulating classic country, early jazz, and other antiquated Americana. There is a connecting thread of spirituality, healing and liberation weaving through her work.
